I cannot say enough about the positive impact that Origin Fitness has had on me in the past several months.
It started with a 50+ Cross Fit class that has helped me with functional movement and regaining strength after an extended ankle injury. In January, Origin Fitness offered a New Year Nutritional Reset with a terrific Nutritionist, Jennifer Murata. Unlike many new year/new your type programs, Jen’s felt different. There were guidelines to follow but it wasn’t all about deprivation, juice drinks, and thou shall never again eat pizza. OK – sure there was a food component, but the reset took more of a holistic approach to overall well-being rather than a quick fix answer. I truly appreciated Jen’s straight forward, no BS attitude. She gave the class useful information on the importance of nutrition – but also sleep, meditation, meal prep tools, stress relief, consistency and really good sauerkraut :-). Prior to meeting Jennifer I would have good days and I would have days where I’d binge all day. In my head I figured I messed up so might as well gorge all the bad foods I want to eat all day and then start tomorrow. I talked to Jennifer about this problem and she told me to always get back on track the next meal. I began to look at it as to how I do per meal not by day. I took it per meal at a time. What’s your biggest contribution as the Nutrition Coach?
Nutrition is the component that can make a good athlete great and take results from modest to life-changing. There is nothing better than helping one of our members find what works for them nutritionally and witnessing it change every aspect of their lives.
What brought you to Nutrition Coaching?
The intersection of passion, education, and genuine connection with staff and members makes nutrition coaching at Origin Fitness a perfect fit for me.
Favorite movement or WOD?
Sumo deadlift and cool down.
Least favorite movement or WOD?
I’m over 40 and I’ve had kids...so any kind of jumping is not my favorite. Any other moms out there know what I’m talking about here.
What do you like to do outside of Origin Fitness?
I love to go on hikes, practice yoga, eat good food, and spend time with my family and our 3 dogs.
Advice for someone starting or wanting to start CrossFit or exercise.
Come try CrossFit and exercise at Origin Fitness. If you’re at all intimidated (like I was), just know that everything is scalable and you will not find a more encouraging and supportive group of people.
